US President Donald Trump has stated that he is holding off a military attack on Iran planned for Tuesday at the request of Gulf states as serious negotiations are now taking place.

In a post on Truth Social, he alleged that leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE requested this delay, emphasizing that a deal would be forthcoming which would be very acceptable to the US, with the clear stipulation that there would be NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN!.

However, he issued a caution that the US stands ready to go forward with a full, large scale assault of Iran, on a moment's notice should no agreeable deal be negotiated.

A senior Iranian military commander responded, urging the US not to make strategic mistakes and miscalculations again.

Trump's announcement also comes amid declining approval ratings as a New York Times/Siena poll shows that 64% of voters believe going to war with Iran was a mistake. Only 37% currently support Trump's job performance, highlighting the growing public frustration regarding the war and his overall handling of various issues, including the economy and immigration.

The backdrop to these developments includes the fear among Gulf Arab states concerning Iran’s potential retaliation following further US actions, as Tehran possesses considerable drone and missile capabilities that could threaten regional stability.

Trump expressed cautious optimism about the negotiations, calling the cessation of hostilities a very positive development but warned that past attempts at agreement had faltered and he remained skeptical about future outcomes.
