Tiger Shroff survived a shooting in Mumbai on Sunday evening, emerging from the incident without any gunshot wounds, police say.
The 36‑year‑old actor was in a car leaving a football club in the Juhu suburb when two gunmen opened fire at close range, according to several news outlets that released footage of the attack.
The video shows the car moving slowly past a crowd as multiple bullets are fired at the front passenger seat. Shroff was unharmed, but his driver and a second passenger sustained injuries.
The event has raised alarms about the safety of public figures in India, a country that has seen a string of targeted assaults on celebrities and politicians in recent years.
Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff after the shooting, declaring that such attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated and promising a crackdown on the “hooliganism.”
Authorities are investigating the attack, while the broader context includes a 2024 gun assault on Salman Khan’s home and the fatal shooting of politician Baba Siddique in Mumbai.
Shroff, the son of actors, debuted in 2014 with the romantic film Heropanti and has since starred in numerous blockbusters. He also plays for the professional football club Mumbai FC, reflecting his passion for the sport.
The shooting adds to a growing list of violent incidents that have spurred calls for better security protocols for high‑profile personalities in India. The investigation is ongoing as officials seek to uncover the motive and prevent future attacks.
