Poland detains a man suspected of planning an assassination of Prime Minister Donald Tusk

Poland detains a suspect who allegedly plotted to kill Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The interior ministry announced that authorities acted after credible information pointed to a possible attack on the two senior officials.
Security services convened an emergency meeting on Sunday, treating the threat as “deadly serious.” The suspect, Jacek Dobrzynski, a Polish national, was arrested in the Lower Silesia region.
Tusk thanked police for “swift and decisive action” in arresting the man. The plan was uncovered following an email detailing the potential attack, forwarded to police by the State Protection Service.
Donald Tusk has served as prime minister since 2023 after a previous term from 2007 to 2014, and was European Council president from 2014 to 2019.
