More NATO countries will move their troops and fighter jets eastwards in response to Wednesday's unprecedented Russian drone incursion into Polish airspace.

Denmark, France, and Germany have joined a new mission to bolster the military alliance's eastern flank. Other NATO allies are expected to take part later.

It came as the Kremlin said on Friday that peace talks with Kyiv were on pause, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov stating: You can't wear rose-tinted glasses and expect that the negotiation process will yield immediate results.

Political tensions have been high across Europe after Poland reported that 19 Russian drones had flown through its airspace on Wednesday. Some were shot down, while others crashed into fields and even a house in eastern Poland.

Russia's military claimed it had no plans to target facilities in Poland; however, Polish and European leaders believe the incursion was deliberate.

According to the Danish defence ministry, Denmark will contribute two F-16 fighter jets to support Poland's air defense, as well as a warship. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized Denmark's commitment by stating, We must not be naive. Putin will stop at nothing, and he is testing us. Therefore, it is crucial that Denmark is contributing to this.

France is expected to contribute three Rafale fighter jets, and Germany will send four Eurofighters. Furthermore, the UK confirmed it is fully committed to helping reinforce the Eastern Sentry, with more details forthcoming from the Ministry of Defence.

On Friday, European nations and the US stood by Poland during an urgent UN Security Council session addressing Russia's drone incursion. Acting US Ambassador to the UN Dorothy Shea reaffirmed, The United States stands by our NATO allies in the face of these alarming airspace violations, assuring that they will defend every inch of NATO territory.

During a UN address, Poland's Secretary of State Marcin Bosacki displayed photos of the downed drones and called the situation a clear violation, insisting that, We know - and I repeat - we know that it was not a mistake.

The Netherlands and Czech Republic are also set to send defenses to Poland, while Lithuania will receive a German brigade and increased alerts regarding possible Russian attacks on Ukraine that might cross into Poland.

Germany has also vowed to intensify its engagement along NATO's eastern border and expand air policing over Poland, demonstrating a united front against perceived threats from Russia.
