In a dramatic display of force, Russia launched its largest assault on Ukraine’s energy network since the spring, striking key facilities around Kyiv and beyond.

Five civilians, including a child, were killed overnight as the attack damaged the Trypilska thermal power plant – the main supplier to the capital – and disrupted electricity to 8,000 homes.

Ukrenergo advised residents across several regions to avoid large‑consumption appliances between 10:00 and 16:00 local time, citing significantly lowered supplies.

While the Russians claimed to intercept more than 380 Ukrainian drones, Kyiv’s military said it struck a Russian drone warehouse in the Donetsk region, marking a counter‑blow.
