Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced a pause on the province's anti-tariff advertisement campaign in the U.S., sparked by President Donald Trump's backlash which resulted in the termination of trade negotiations.

Following discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney, Ford stated that the ad will still run over the weekend, including during the Major League Baseball World Series, but will be paused on Monday to allow for the resumption of trade talks.

Carney confirmed earlier that Canada is ready to continue negotiations as soon as the U.S. is prepared. Trump criticized the advertisement on his Truth Social account, describing it as 'FAKE' and 'egregious', and asserted that trade talks were 'HEREBY TERMINATED'.

The contentious ad, sponsored by the Ontario government, quotes former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, a figure revered in conservative circles, asserting that tariffs 'hurt every American'.
