MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Four individuals have been indicted on federal charges related to protests in Minneapolis, including one woman accused of biting off an immigration officer’s fingertip. Claire Louise Feng, 27, faces charges for assaulting a federal officer during a protest that occurred following the officer-involved shooting of Alex Pretti.
Beyond Feng, three others have been charged regarding threats made against FBI agents after personal information was stolen during protests. Documents with addresses and phone numbers of FBI employees were posted on social media, resulting in numerous threats directed at the agents.
Feng's incident occurred on January 24, when she allegedly tackled the officer, resulting in a severe injury. The officer, who attempted to arrest another protestor, was taken by surprise and required medical attention after realizing his finger had been bitten off.
Feng's attorney has stated that they intend to contest the charges, emphasizing the need for accountability regarding allegations made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
In a related indictment, 18-year-old Brenna Marie Doyle was charged with threatening to murder an FBI agent and their family, while two other men, James Patrick Lyons and Jose Alberto Ramirez, face charges for sending threatening messages to FBI staff. None of the defendants have entered pleas yet in the ongoing cases.
