The Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla have come together to mark Armistice Day in the UK, joining services that are taking place across the globe. Catherine attended the solemn ceremony at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, where the Last Post signaled a two-minute silence at 11:00 GMT, commemorating the end of World War One.
Queen Camilla was seen participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at Paddington Station in London after traveling there by train. The Prince of Wales has also engaged the youth through a video message underscoring the importance of remembrance, asserting that 'remembrance is for everyone.'
This marked Catherine's first attendance at the national service, during which she laid a wreath at the armed forces memorial amidst a gathering that included veterans and their families. After the wreath laying, Catherine took a reflective moment before returning to her seat, bowing her head as the crowd offered prayers for those affected by conflict.
The Prince of Wales’ video message reached young children aged nine to fourteen in the UK, declaring: 'When we remember, we connect with service in a personal way.' He emphasized that the act is as much about the future as it is about the past.
The commemorative service in Staffordshire featured a specially commissioned poem read by the arboretum's poet in residence, Arji Manuelpillai, which encapsulated the stories etched into the memorials. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla made her way to Paddington Station for a touching tribute to service personnel and their families.
Later on the same day, William will join King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle for a reception honoring veterans from the Second World War.
In Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron laid a wreath in the Champs-Elysees, honoring the signing of the armistice. Meanwhile, Princess Anne is representing the royal family in Australia, laying wreaths and honoring service personnel at Gallipoli Barracks, emphasizing the global reach and significance of this day.
