Tragic Paragliding Accident Claims Life of British Tourist in Catalonia

A 63‑year‑old British man died after a paragliding accident near Tremp in Catalonia, Spain. The incident occurred in the Palau de Noguera area at about 13:30 local time, or 14:30 British Summer Time, on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene when a first‑aid responder received a call about a possible paragliding crash. The injured tourist was found by rescuers and received on‑scene medical care before a more specialised team arrived.

Despite immediate medical attention the man did not survive. Authorities have yet to confirm the exact reason the paragliding equipment failed, but local media reports claim he may have become tangled in power lines before hitting the ground.

The Catalan government confirmed that three fire brigades and two medical teams attended the crash site, while the Mossos d'Esquadra police force cooperated with five citizen‑security and investigation units in the investigation.

The UK Foreign Office said it is “supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain” and that the victim’s relatives will be notified via the British consular service.
