ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Actor and acclaimed director Timothy Busfield has turned himself into authorities following multiple charges of child sex abuse in New Mexico. The arrest came after a warrant was issued on January 9 for two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse.

The charges revolve around allegations that Busfield inappropriately touched a young boy during the filming of 'The Cleaning Lady,' a series he directed. According to the criminal complaint, the victim, now eight, alleged there were instances of unwanted physical contact by Busfield when he was just seven years old.

The claims expanded when the boy's twin brother corroborated some of the allegations, stating that he too experienced similar inappropriate conduct, although he did not detail the specifics for fear of reprimand.

The investigation initiated in November 2024, following a report to Child Protective Services by the boys’ mother who indicated the abuse spanned over a year. Feedback from a recent medical examination revealed that one of the twins is dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety linked to the alleged incidents.

Timothy Busfield has denied the allegations, suggesting that the claims may be rooted in personal grievances from the family, particularly regarding the boys’ previous casting roles on the production.

This story has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, marking a stark contrast to Busfield's previous acclaimed work, including notable roles in 'The West Wing' and 'Thirtysomething,' for which he received an Emmy Award.
