French Wife and Children Rescued After 12 Years of Abuse in Pakistan

Police in Pakistan have detained a man accused of imprisoning his wife and five children at their home for more than a decade following a raid in Bara, a remote town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The victims, a French national named Sylvie Yasmina and her children, were found in a cramped, dilapidated room that bore clear signs of physical abuse.

Yasmina, 54, alleges that her husband subjected her and the family to daily physical and mental assaults, while her children were barred from meeting anyone and faced severe educational deprivation.

A son quietly reported the abuse, prompting police to raid the house. They discovered bruises on the family’s bodies and confirmed that the man had effectively “imprisoned” them since moving to Pakistan from Australia in 2014.

The husband—identified only as a Pakistani national suspected of illegally residing in Australia—is now in custody. Authorities have released the family to a women’s shelter in Peshawar and are arranging their return to France.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence and human rights violations in remote regions, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures and legal safeguards for vulnerable families.
