The body of a Bangladeshi doctoral student, Zamil Limon, who went missing alongside his girlfriend, Nahida Bristy, from the University of South Florida has been found on the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, Limon’s roommate, Hisham Saleh Abugharbeih, 26, has been arrested, facing multiple charges including unlawfully moving a dead body and failing to report a death.
Authorities discovered Limon's remains early on Friday, sparking a continuing search for Bristy, who has not yet been located. Hillsborough County Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer confirmed that dive teams were still working in the bay as they seek further evidence about the circumstances surrounding the case.
Abugharbeih's arrest traces back to a domestic violence incident earlier, during which he barricaded himself inside his home after officers responded to the scene. It took a SWAT team operation to safely remove him, and he now awaits a court hearing.
“This is a deeply disturbing case that has shaken our community,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. Reports indicate Limon and Bristy, both 27, were contemplating marriage before their disappearance on April 16.
Both individuals reportedly attended university together; while Limon was studying environmental science and policy, Bristy was focused on chemical engineering. They were last seen at different locations just over an hour apart, prompting initial concerns from family members.
Investigation into Abugharbeih reveals prior arrests, including charges of battery and domestic violence, with court records indicating a history of relationships with law enforcement.
As this investigation unfolds, officials have encouraged anyone with information to come forward to help piece together the timeline and circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
