Adolescence, The White Lotus, Severance and The Penguin are a few of the TV shows that will battle it out later at the Emmys, the television industry's most prestigious awards ceremony.

Owen Cooper, the 15-year-old British star of Adolescence, could become the youngest male actor ever to win an Emmy. A campaign led by US chat show hosts following the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert could also see the programme win outstanding talk series for the first time.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday evening at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Notable contenders in various categories include The Studio, Andor, Hacks, Slow Horses, The Bear, Nobody Wants This, and The Last of Us.

Who is hosting the Emmys?

US comedian Nate Bargatze will host this year's Emmys. Known for his family-friendly comedy style, Bargatze plans to incentivize nominees during acceptance speeches by donating to charity for each speech exceeding the time limit.

Competing for the Outstanding Drama award is a diverse lineup that includes The White Lotus, Andor, Severance, The Last of Us, and more. In the comedy category, former winners The Bear and Hacks are in the running, while the limited series category features significant contenders such as Adolescence and Black Mirror.
