In a heartfelt announcement, HBO has confirmed that "And Just Like That...", the much-discussed reboot of the iconic "Sex and the City," will wrap up after its third season. Showrunner Michael Patrick King took to Instagram to state that while writing the last episode, it became evident that this would be a "wonderful place to stop."

The series, inspired by Carrie Bradshaw’s adventures in her 50s, has brought back its beloved characters alongside new narratives and fresh styling set against the backdrop of New York City. Sarah Jessica Parker, who reprises her role as Carrie, expressed her sentiments through a poignant poem and photo montage, celebrating the "chapter complete." Meanwhile, her co-star Kristin Davis, known for her portrayal of Charlotte York, shared her sadness about the show's conclusion.

Based on Candace Bushnell's books, the franchise has previously transitioned to the silver screen with two films. However, King noted that "the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end," leaving no room for further spin-offs. Recent data from Samba TV highlights a significant decline in viewership over the past seasons, with the inaugural premiere witnessing 1.1 million US households, while the latest episode attracted fewer than half that number.

The reboot faced waves of criticism, particularly around issues of diversity. Publications such as Elle criticized the execution of its attempts to bring more inclusivity, while The Guardian described it as "heavy-handed overcompensation" for the original series’ lack of representation. Additionally, fans pointed out plot inconsistencies, like a character seemingly resurrecting after previously reported deaths. The show's production team clarified that one of these deaths belonged to a stepfather rather than the character's biological dad.

As the final season unfolds, controversial character Che Diaz, described by critics as "the worst character on TV," will be replaced by someone from the BBC. Fans have taken to social media to express their mixed feelings about the show's end, with some wishing for it to continue and others hoping for improvement. As one user poignantly stated, "We don't want it to end. We want it to be better."
