US President Donald Trump was listed as a passenger on the private jet of late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein eight times between 1993 and 1996, according to a new email released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ).
In a 2020 email from an assistant US attorney, it was noted, Donald Trump traveled on Epstein's private jet many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware). Although Trump's name appeared in the flight records, he has denied any wrongdoing or that he ever flew with Epstein.
The DOJ emphasized that some of the claims in the released documents are untrue and sensationalist. Trump's public rebuttal included a statement claiming he was never on Epstein's plane. The timing of these new revelations has brought renewed media attention to the relationship between Trump and Epstein, who were known to have been friends until their fallout in 2004.
The email detailed that Trump appeared on the flight logs alongside notable individuals, including his daughter Tiffany and son Eric, and even mentioned flights where Ghislaine Maxwell was present. Trump's connections to Epstein are under scrutiny amid ongoing public interest in the Epstein files, which are being released as part of a court-ordered transparency measure.
This latest disclosure is part of a broader release of over 30,000 pages related to Epstein that the DOJ has been mandated to publish. Critics have expressed discontent over the DOJ's inability to meet deadlines for complete transparency surrounding Epstein's case.
Attorney General Todd Blanche mentioned that ongoing scrutiny requires careful handling of sensitive materials to protect all victims associated with Epstein.
