A Russian missile attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro has killed four people and injured 40, authorities have said.
Unconfirmed reports say a ballistic missile was used in the strike, which took place on Monday morning.
Videos shared online showed a large explosion occur on the side of a motorway, and local media reported damage to an office block, cars, and shops.
Dnipro, approximately 100km from the front line, has regularly been targeted by Russian forces since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
This incident comes just before US special envoy Steve Witkoff is scheduled to meet President Vladimir Putin in Moscow for discussions aimed at ending the war.
Witkoff's meetings with Russian leaders and recent conversations with Ukrainian officials indicate ongoing diplomatic efforts, despite stark differences between the two nations.
Zelensky described recent talks as very constructive but acknowledged significant challenges remain. He has also been active in engaging European leaders for further support amid concerns about potential Russian negotiations overriding Ukrainian interests.
Compounding these complexities, Zelensky faces a political crisis at home due to a corruption scandal, which led to the resignation of his chief of staff.
As discussions continue, fears grow regarding the US administration's alignment with Moscow and the exclusion of Europe from critical negotiations, highlighting the ongoing plight of a war that has displaced millions and inflicted heavy casualties.
