Pop star Lizzo is celebrating a legal victory after a judge dismissed allegations of fat-shaming from a 2023 lawsuit filed by three of her former dancers.

The singer, known for her empowering anthems like 'Good As Hell' and 'Juice', shared her excitement through a video statement on Instagram and TikTok.

There was no evidence that I fired them because they gained weight, Lizzo clarified. They were fired for taking a private recording of me without my consent and sending it off to ex-employees.

Despite the dismissal of the fat-shaming claims, the lawsuit against Lizzo and her production company will proceed regarding allegations of sexual harassment by the former dancers.

Lizzo's legal team labeled the lawsuit a fabricated sob story. However, a Los Angeles judge previously allowed the case to be pursued, which claims the dancers were pressured into inappropriate situations during their employment.

Allegations include that Lizzo pressured dancer Arianna Davis to touch a performer's breasts in a nightclub, and that the dancers were encouraged to eat fruits from the bodies of naked performers.

During the summer, Lizzo's lawyer argued these outings were integral to her creative process and thus covered by First Amendment protections. Yet, the dancers' attorney countered that artistic inspiration does not justify the alleged misconduct.

Lizzo's attorney, Melissa Glass, asserted that the dancers cannot find any corroborating testimonies to support their claims and highlighted that several witnesses refuted them. In light of the recent ruling, Lizzo remarked that the fat-shaming claims had haunted her for the last two years and expressed a commitment to fighting the ongoing allegations.

She emphasized her long-standing advocacy for body positivity and stated, I have only encouraged and supported people with bigger bodies and shared my platform with them.

I am not settling, Lizzo declared, pledging to confront every claim until the truth emerges.
