Emma Heming Willis Shares Insight into Bruce Willis's Health Struggles
Emma Heming Willis, the wife of retired actor Bruce Willis, has publicly addressed the challenges they face due to his diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia. Bruce is still very mobile, he is in really great health overall, you know, it’s just his brain that is failing him, she shared during a recent interview.
Since Bruce's diagnosis over three years ago, the couple has adapted their communication methods. Heming Willis is set to release a book aimed at supporting fellow caregivers navigating similar struggles. The language is going, and we’ve learned to adapt, she remarked, emphasizing the importance of finding new ways to connect.
Despite the difficulties, she notes that they still experience rare moments of Bruce's vibrant personality, describing these as flashes of his true self — a twinkle in his eye, and his signature hearty laugh. Not days, but we get moments, she expressed.
Heming Willis’s openness is lauded by health professionals, resonating with many families affected by dementia and serving as a vital reminder about the importance of awareness and research into such conditions.
The couple's story is part of a feature airing tonight, titled Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey, available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
