Article Text: Former Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs bodyguard, Joseph Sherman, launched a civil suit on Friday against Thalia Graves and her attorney Gloria Allred, asserting claims of defamation and emotional distress in the Southern District of New York. His legal action follows a lawsuit filed by Graves and Allred on September 24, 2024, which named Sherman as a defendant along with Diddy. In his complaint, Sherman accuses Graves of attempting to blackmail him, citing several text messages sent by her.

In his suit, Joseph Sherman claims that he ceased working for Combs in 1999 and asserts that he was not present during the alleged assault by Combs and himself that occurred in 2001. He further insists that he has never met Graves, and portrays her actions as an attempt to coerce him into providing false testimony against Combs by proposing that if he agrees to be a witness, the state would drop any charges against him.

Critics are suggesting that Sherman’s case reflects a potential pattern of misconduct involving Allred, hinting that there may be broader implications affecting the credibility of Combs' alleged victims. Gloria Allred, along with her daughter, Lisa Bloom, has faced scrutiny in various litigations for their motives, and as of now, Allred is the only attorney suing Combs who has been counter-sued.

Joseph Sherman publicly denounced the allegations shortly after Graves' suit was introduced, focusing attention on the troubling nature of the alleged blackmail attempts via text. Detractors highlight Allred's connections to Combs' legal circles, noting that Mark Geragos, who has a history of controversy, shares ties with Allred. Geragos is known for his involvement in numerous high-profile cases, some marred by accusations of misconduct.

The issue has resurfaced comparisons to past legal battles involving Allred and Geragos, including accusations of evidence and witness tampering in high-profile trials. Few parallels are drawn to Anthony Pellicano, a former private investigator with associations to both attorneys and a checkered past of criminal allegations. His connections to several notorious cases and whistleblowers represent a troubling association with Allred and Geragos.

Given the alarming history of alleged misconduct linked to Gloria Allred, many have called for her actions to be investigated further. Accusations include racketeering and connections to unsettling allegations around the untimely demise of various attorneys.

Allred’s increasing notoriety may have had unintended consequences, as speculation mounts that her involvement in the Diddy case might have been an attempt to undermine the credibility of other claims against him. Sherman’s attorney, Darnell D. Crosland, voiced concerns about the impact of false allegations on genuine victims of sexual assault, emphasizing the need for accountability for both Graves and Allred.
