NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country music star Morgan Wallen is under scrutiny after newly released police body camera footage shows him denying allegations of throwing a chair off a Nashville honky-tonk bar rooftop. The incident, which occurred in April 2024, resulted in Wallen being arrested and charged with reckless endangerment.

In the aftermath of his arrest, Wallen took to social media to express regret, stating, I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility. In December of the same year, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts related to the incident.

The Metro Nashville Police Department released videos of Wallen's arrest following a public records request. In the footage, Wallen can be seen interacting with officers as they investigate the chair incident. Initially, he claims ignorance about the circumstances surrounding the chair that had fallen near a police vehicle.

A Broken Chair and Legal Trouble

Body camera footage depicts Wallen and his entourage approaching officers after the chair, identified by witnesses as thrown by Wallen, struck the street. One of Wallen's bodyguards was heard arguing about a lack of witness to the alleged throwing.

Another angle reveals officers discussing witness reports and watching security footage from the bar, which allegedly shows Wallen in the act. Despite the evidence, Wallen remained adamant about his innocence.

As officers reviewed the footage, they ultimately decided to handcuff Wallen after he failed to provide a clear account of the events. With a crowd forming around him, fans shouted their support.

Wallen's Reaction and Sentencing

The star's interactions during his arrest suggested an underlying frustration with the situation, even as he attempted to remain cordial. He described other country stars on the phone, hinting at camaraderie with fellow artists amidst the chaos.

In December 2024, Wallen was sentenced to seven days in a DUI education center and two years of supervised probation, with the possibility for expungement of the charges after completion of the probationary period.

Wallen's career has been marred by previous controversies, including his notorious use of a racial slur in 2021, which led to significant backlash and professional setbacks in the music industry. With his latest legal troubles adding to his complicated history, Wallen’s future remains uncertain as he navigates both his career and newfound responsibilities in the public eye.
