This summer's Wireless Festival has been cancelled after headliner Kanye West was blocked from coming to the UK.

The government refused permission for West, now known as Ye, to travel to the UK after backlash to his planned set at the London festival this summer.

For the last several years, West has caused outrage for a string of antisemitic, racist and pro-Nazi comments.

In a statement, Wireless Festival said: The Home Office has withdrawn Ye's ETA, denying him entry into the United Kingdom. As a result, Wireless Festival is cancelled and refunds will be issued to all ticket holders. The festival emphasized that all stakeholders were consulted before booking Ye and previously had no concerns highlighted.

Wireless Festival acknowledged that antisemitism in all its forms is abhorrent and recognized the impact of these issues, stating Ye hopes to begin a conversation with the Jewish community in the UK.

Presale tickets for the festival had sold out, with general sales set to open soon. The Home Office stated that the decision to deny West entry was made on the grounds that his presence would not be conducive to the public good.

West has publicly sought to re-establish his relationship with the Jewish community, expressing a desire to meet with them to listen after controversy over his booking.

Community leaders expressed relief over the Home Office's decision, with discussions highlighting the need for greater accountability and the effects of hate speech on society.

While some fans expressed disappointment over the cancellation, others supported the decision, indicating a divide in public sentiment surrounding West's previous comments.
