A plane with 12 people on board has crashed in Kwale near Kenya's coast, the aviation authority has reported. The aircraft was flying from Diani to the Kichwa Tembo resort when it went down at 05:30 local time (02:30 GMT).

According to local police, tourists were believed to be among the passengers. Eyewitness accounts and local media reports have surfaced showing the plane ablaze with debris scattered across the crash site.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has confirmed that government agencies are on site investigating the crash and assessing the situation.
