The Afghan Taliban has accused Pakistan of violating Kabul's sovereign territory, describing it as an unprecedented, violent, and provocative act. The allegation comes after two loud blasts were heard in the city late on Thursday, with the Taliban's Defence Ministry stating that Pakistan bombed a civilian market in the border province of Patika, destroying several shops.
Pakistan has neither confirmed nor denied launching an attack inside Afghanistan. However, a top general in Peshawar alleged that Afghanistan was being utilized as a base for terrorist operations against Pakistan, insisting that necessary measures will be taken to safeguard Pakistani lives and property.
Pakistan has long accused the Afghan Taliban of allowing the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) to operate from their territory, claims that the Taliban government has denied. Rumors suggest the blasts in Kabul might be linked to a targeted attack on TTP leader Noor Wali Mehsud, but an unverified voice note from Mehsud claims he is still alive.
While the immediate situation remains unclear, with reports of heavy Taliban presence in Kabul, the Taliban Defence Ministry has issued a warning that the consequences of any escalation will be the responsibility of the Pakistani army. However, the Taliban's foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, has called for good relations with Pakistan, urging resolution through negotiation rather than conflict.
