Russian Drone Strike Kills Five in Pavlohrad Shopping Centre

Five people lost and 67 wounded after a Russian drone hit a Pavlohrad mall, Ukrainian officials say.

A Russian drone slammed into a shopping centre in Pavlohrad, killing five civilians and wounding 67, including eight children. Ukrainian President Zelensky condemned the attack as a “tactic of coercion” aimed at civilians, while Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha warned that Russia’s relentless strikes seek to force Ukraine into concession. The assault added to a string of missile and drone attacks on Myanmar‑controlled malls earlier this week, with additional casualties reported in Sumy and Kryvyi Rih.

Five people were killed and 67 others wounded when a Russian drone struck the shopping centre in Pavlohrad, a city in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian officials reported.

Images released by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine show firefighters directing hoses at burning vehicles amid clouds of smoke on Pavlohrad streets.

Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha noted that eight of the 67 injured were children.

President Volodymyr Zelensky offered condolences to families and condemned the strike as a "tactic of coercion" that "used drones to target civilians who were simply standing near shopping centres."

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the drone attack as a "tactic of coercion" aimed at "exhausting Ukrainians" and forcing them into concession.

Earlier this week other shopping malls in Ukrainian‑controlled zones suffered Russian strikes. A mall in Zaporizhzhia was almost destroyed on Monday, but was closed and no casualties were reported. In Sumy a Russian drone attack killed two people and wounded 20. That same day, a Russian strike on a mall in Sumy injured eight people, including three children.

Ukraine has said that a Russian drone strike on a mall in Kryvyi Rih last month killed at least 16 people and wounded 130.
