A wife of a man who was nearly pulled head‑first out of a cabin window in a Ryanair flight erupted into a tense silence when the aircraft abruptly plummeted 9,000 feet (2,700 m) from the sky. The woman described frantic moments on the wing, adding that her husband was reportedly out for only two or three minutes before the woman and a nearby passenger pulled him back inside.
The descent happened only about ten minutes into the flight from Greece’s city of Thessaloniki to Germany’s Memmingen. Passengers recalled hearing a loud explosion as the plane nosedied, a cue that the cabin had been compromised.
The husband suffered friction burns that required treatment in a local Greek hospital, according to officials. The 61‑year‑old was identified as a Serbian national.
In a brief statement, Ryanair said the flight had returned swiftly after a passenger window dislodged during flight. The airline expressed regret over the incident and stated that investigations are underway.
