Helicopter Crashes at Mount Ololokwe in Kenya, Killing Six People

Mount Ololokwe, Samburu County – A Eurocopter EC130 B4 aircraft crashed at 09:13 local time (06:13 GMT) on Mount Ololokwe in central Kenya, killing all six occupants. Officials said the helicopter was on a scenic flight from a wildlife conservancy at Losaiba to the Ewaso Nyiro River when it struck the mountain.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) reported that the aircraft was operating a tourist tour, but names of passengers have not yet been released. Local media suggested that the helicopter was carrying tourists on a short tour of the wildlife reserves.

The KCAA said the incident involved a Eurocopter EC130 B4 and is coordinating rescue and investigation operations. The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that the crash site is not yet accessible, but drones are being flown to assess the damage.

The Transport Ministry and the Air Accident Investigations Department will lead further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Helicopter crashes are not uncommon in Kenya, with recent examples including a 2024 military crash that killed the army’s chief, a 2021 crash that killed 10 soldiers near Nairobi, and a February 2026 incident that killed six people in Nandi County.
