Aftermath of the earthquakes

Two powerful earthquakes shook the Venezuelan capital, a day apart, resulting in at least 160 fatalities and extensive damage across Caracas and its suburbs.

Officials reported that an apartment block in El Junquito, a district just outside Caracas, collapsed, leaving the residents scrambling for safety. A local content creator captured a chilling video of the collapse, which has been shared widely and prompted emergency response in the area.

“The building was already weakened by prior fractures, and the quake pushed it to a complete collapse,” said the acting president Delcy Rodríguez at a press briefing.

Emergency teams have mobilized, but the region continues to face challenges such as infrastructure damage and limited medical supplies.

Government response and international aid

The Venezuelan government has called for coordinated relief efforts, with neighboring countries already offering support. The international community has expressed solidarity and pledged resources to help rebuild the devastated communities.
