A private tuition centre in the Kahna suburb of Lahore was the scene of a fatal roof collapse on 30 June, taking the lives of 14 youngsters and injuring several others.

Rescue 1122 responded within a minute of the emergency call and reached the site around 16:45 local time, completing the evacuation and rescue operations within an hour. The majority of survivors were infants and young children between seven and eleven years old.

Precautionary investigations revealed that the roof had been unstable and was undergoing tile repairs when the incident occurred. According to witnesses, the structure had been overloaded and the weakened façade failed dramatically.

The police charged two individuals with neglect and possible negligence, and the Emergency Service has opened a formal inquiry into construction safety violations and potential malfeasance.

Political leaders at the highest levels have issued statements of condolence. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for swift medical care for the injured, while Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif condemned the tragedy, promised accountability, and offered heartfelt support to grieving families.
