Halle Bailey Secures Restraining Order Against Alleged Abuser DDG
Bailey cites multiple incidents of violence and emotional abuse in legal filing against rapper and ex-boyfriend.
Actress Halle Bailey, known for her role in Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid, has been granted a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper and YouTube star DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. The order comes after Bailey reported a series of violent incidents and claimed she feared for her safety and that of their infant son, Halo.
A Los Angeles judge issued the restraining order on Tuesday, requiring DDG to remain at least 100 yards away from Bailey and their child until a hearing set for June 6. Bailey, 25, contends that since their split in October, there have been multiple instances of physical and emotional abuse, prompting her to take legal action.
In her court filings, Bailey described her ex-partner as engaging in “repeated acts of physical violence,” stating, "Throughout our relationship, Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me." She expressed her desire to safeguard both herself and Halo from DDG's purported ongoing abuse.
The pair dated from 2022 until they parted ways last year. Bailey recounted a specific incident from January, detailing an altercation where Granberry became abusive while she was securing their son in a car seat. She accused him of pulling her hair and slamming her face into the steering wheel, resulting in a chipped tooth, which she provided photographic evidence of in her court documents.
Further allegations include an incident where DDG allegedly invaded her home and sent a threatening text accompanied by a photo of her bed, insinuating infidelity. Bailey claimed he became aggressive when she refused to send their sick child with him, leading to him damaging her doorbell camera during their confrontation.
In addition to the restraining order, Bailey has requested that Granberry stop using social media to propagate negative remarks about her, mentioning that he has accused her of withholding their son, which has led to online harassment directed towards her.
The judge has prohibited DDG from possessing any weapons and can extend the restraining order for up to five years during the upcoming hearing. Bailey, an established artist recognized for her music career and acting roles, is asserting her rights and seeking to protect her family amidst these serious allegations.
