On June 12, the Air India flight 171, bound for London, tragically crashed shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad, claiming the lives of 241 aboard and 19 individuals on the ground. In the aftermath, families of the deceased have been grappling with their loss as they awaited a preliminary report on the accident's causes.
Imtiyaz Ali, a brother of crash victim Javid Ali, expressed deep disappointment with the findings disclosed on Saturday, likening the report to an ineffective product description. He remarked that aside from the pilots’ last conversation, the document fails to shed light on why the airplane's engines experienced a fuel cut-off moments post-takeoff.
The report detailed cockpit voice recordings, revealing a query from one pilot regarding the sudden fuel shut-off. Unfortunately, the other pilot’s response left the families yearning for clarity. Ali emphasized the matter's significance, insisting that understanding the incident is essential, even though it cannot reverse the tragedy they endure.
Shweta Parihar, who lost her husband Abhinav in the crash, also echoed the call for understanding. She acknowledged that no explanation could bring her husband back, but wished for clarity on the circumstances of the loss. The incident has left her 11-year-old son Vihaan grappling with his father’s absence, declaring he would never fly Air India again.
Badasab Syed, another grieving relative, conveyed his frustration with the preliminary findings, underscoring that the crash's complexities are still shrouded in uncertainty.
