US President Donald Trump has issued a directive to ramp up the detention and deportation of migrants nationwide, just as protests against his administration’s immigration policies are intensifying. In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump urged federal agencies to "do all in their power" to initiate what he described as "the single largest mass deportation programme in history," specifically naming Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York as key locations for these efforts.

Since June 6, protests against federal arrests and deportations have erupted in these cities, signaling public discontent with Trump's approach to immigration. Critics have condemned Trump's militarized response to the protests, defending his right to maintain law and order. Nonetheless, this move to expand deportations is seen as an overt fulfillment of Trump's earlier campaign promises.

"I have directed the entire administration to put every resource possible behind this effort," Trump proclaimed, stressing that no one seeking to "undermine the domestic tranquility of the United States" would be allowed to remain in the country.
