In the wake of the recent U.S. military strikes on Iran targeting three nuclear sites, the response from international leaders has been rapid and varied, with nations expressing both condemnation and calls for diplomatic measures. As tensions mount, the potential for escalating conflict in the Middle East raises alarm among global stakeholders.

United Nations: U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres voiced his deep concerns on social media, stating that he is “gravely alarmed” by the military actions taken by the U.S., labeling them as a “dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge.” He warned of the escalating risks to international peace, emphasizing the potential for catastrophic consequences for civilians and the wider region.

Britain: Prime Minister Keir Starmer shared his support for the U.S. action, asserting that “Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon,” while calling for a return to diplomatic negotiations to resolve the crisis.

Australia: The Australian government echoed sentiments surrounding Iran’s nuclear threat and called for a focus on diplomacy to ensure peace and security, aligning their position with remarks made previously by President Trump.

New Zealand: Foreign Minister Winston Peters highlighted the ongoing military actions as deeply concerning and stressed the importance of avoiding further escalation through diplomatic channels.

South Korea: In light of the developments, security officials in South Korea met to evaluate possible repercussions on both national security and economic stability.

Mexico: The Foreign Ministry emphasized the necessity for “diplomatic dialogue and peace,” urging all parties involved to de-escalate the situation for the sake of regional stability.

Cuba: President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the strikes, labeling them a “dangerous escalation” that risks broader international crisis.

Chile: President Gabriel Boric criticized the actions as illegal under international law, insisting on the need for peace and adherence to legal frameworks.

Venezuela: Foreign Minister Yván Gil characterized the U.S. actions as “illegal, unjustifiable and extremely dangerous,” criticizing the aggression shown in recent strikes.

The diverse reactions underscore a collective anxiety regarding the potential for a broader conflict, with many promoting diplomatic resolutions as vital to restoring calm in the region.
