Late on Thursday, a tanker traveling outbound through the Strait of Hormuz reported an explosion at its port‑side waterline, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The incident, which took place at 22:00 GMT, was roughly 16 nautical miles east of Khasab, Oman, a point on Oman's Musandam Peninsula that lies along the southern side of the strait.

The UKMTO confirmed that all crew members were safe and the tanker remained under its own power, continuing its voyage after the blast. The agency did not specify the cause of the explosion or the extent of any damage incurred by the vessel.

In its advisory, UKMTO said authorities were investigating the incident and urged vessels transiting the area to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity. The message was issued as a delayed report received from the vessel's master.

UKMTO, known for monitoring maritime traffic and issuing advisories, has not yet released further details regarding the nature of the explosion or potential security implications. The incident adds to the list of incidents that routinely prompt vigilance in this strategically important waterway, though no additional data is available at this time.

The international community will be awaiting additional information from UKMTO regarding the cause and consequences of the explosion. For now, all indicators suggest that the tanker and its crew remained unharmed while the ship continued on its scheduled course.
