In brief

On Saturday, the 2026 iENA international invention fair opened in Nuremberg, presenting nearly 600 inventions focused on green technology, AI, and sustainable solutions. The fair, organized by AFAG, aims to connect inventors with industry partners and will host a concurrent Innovation Congress on November 2 to discuss AI and collaborative innovation.

On Saturday, the 2026 iENA international invention fair opened in Nuremberg, presenting close to 600 inventions from more than 20 countries and regions, according to the event organizer.

The exhibition, spanning three days, places a particular emphasis on green technologies, artificial intelligence, and sustainable solutions. More than 98 percent of the inventions are debuting to the public in Nuremberg for the first time.

The displays include environmental protection and energy technologies, as well as mobility, electrical engineering, information technology, and teaching and research sectors, grouping the show around the pressing concerns of commerce and society.

Henning Koenicke, managing director of AFAG, the exhibition’s organizer, said the fair offers inventors “an opportunity to connect with research partners and companies that can help bring their inventions to market.”

Co‑aligned with the exhibition, the Nuremberg Innovation Congress will convene on November 2 and will feature topics focused on artificial intelligence and collaborative innovation, the organizers confirm.

Founded in 1948, iENA seeks to present the latest worldwide innovations to companies and the public, helping inventors explore business opportunities and gather feedback from potential users.

While the fair’s lineup is dominated by green and AI‑oriented exhibits, it also showcases a broad spectrum of mobility, IT, and electrical engineering solutions. The event seems poised to become a key hub for cross‑disciplinary collaboration, bridging academic research and commercial interests.

Key questions for the coming days include how the featured green initiatives will translate into scalable commercial products and what role artificial intelligence will play in enhancing collaborative innovation among the contributors.

Industry analysts will be watching to see how firms attending the fair negotiate partnerships with inventors, especially in the energy and mobile sectors where the potential for rapid deployment is high.

The fair’s simultaneous Innovation Congress is expected to ignite debates on AI ethics, data sharing, and the future of work in sectors ranging from automotive to education.

The event also highlights the need for public‑private cooperation in advancing environmental technologies—an aspect that has received heightened attention from policymakers in recent months.

With both a showcase of emerging green and AI tools and a forum for collaborative discussion, the Nuremberg iENA fair aims to catalyze the transition to a more sustainable and technologically integrated future.
