CARBONDALE, Kan. (AP) — Four law enforcement officers were shot Saturday morning while responding to a residence in a rural area south of Topeka, Kansas. The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m., involving three Osage County sheriff’s deputies and one Kansas Highway Patrol trooper, as stated by Kansas Bureau of Investigation spokesperson Melissa Underwood.
The officers' conditions remain 'very fluid,' according to Underwood. In a related development, a male suspect died from gunshot wounds, while another male is injured and currently in stable condition at a local hospital.
The confrontation arose as deputies and troopers were responding to a domestic violence incident north of Carbondale. Authorities disclosed that gunfire erupted shortly after their arrival on the scene. Following the shooting, multiple law enforcement agencies responded swiftly to assist.
