TUCSON, Ariz. (OnPoint) — Early Thursday morning, there was little indication that the kidnapper of Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, had responded to her public plea for proof of her mother's wellbeing. In a poignant video message posted on social media on Wednesday, Savannah expressed her family's readiness to communicate but stressed the need for undeniable confirmation that Nancy is still alive.
We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us, Savannah reiterated in her emotional address.
Nancy, described as a strong, loving woman, was last seen at her home Saturday night after having dinner with family. When she failed to appear at church the following day, she was reported missing.
Following the family's message, authorities conducted an extensive search around Nancy's home. Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed ongoing investigations, including reviewing video footage and searching for signs of forced entry, as they work to determine her whereabouts.
Support from the community steeped in concern has been palpable, with a vigil held in her honor at a Tucson church, gathering hundreds who lit candles in hope of her safe return.
As Savannah focuses on her family during this traumatic experience, she has pulled back from her hosting duties and will not participate in the upcoming 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics coverage.
The search for Nancy continues as family and friends hold onto hope for her safe return.
