Police Release Final Bodycam Interview of Peter Falconio Murder Suspect
Northern Territory police have published body‑cam footage of the last interrogation of Bradley Murdoch, the 67‑year‑old convicted of murdering British backpacker Peter Falconio in July 2001 on a remote stretch of highway near Barrow Creek.
In the video, an officer questions Murdoch about whether he might know the location of Falconio’s body, staking the claim that Falconio could have been his son. Murdoch replies, “I don’t know anything about it,” and emphatically states that he has given the same answer for 22 years.
Murdoch died last year of throat cancer while in jail, never revealing where Falconio’s remains were hidden. Police released the footage ahead of the 25th anniversary of the disappearance, saying the investigation is still “committed to bringing it to its fullest conclusion.”
During the 2005 trial, Murdoch was found guilty by a unanimous jury, but he had always maintained his innocence despite DNA evidence linking him to the crime. An inquest into his death heard that he refused to watch a video from Falconio’s parents pleading for help locating their son’s body.
AT NT Police have urged anyone with new information about the missing remains to come forward, stating “No piece of information is too small; what may seem insignificant could prove critical in helping investigators finally resolve this case.”
