A passenger boat carrying about 270 people capsized four miles off the coast of Kyrenia in northern Cyprus, and a rescue operation is underway.
According to local mayor Murat Senkul, 159 passengers have been located by rescue teams so far.
"The situation is very serious," the mayor told CNN Turk. He added that the vessel began taking on water and listing before it flipped.
Officials say the vessel was near 4 miles from shore when it started to list, prompting swift emergency response from Coast Guard and other agencies.
