Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested after allegedly assaulting and threatening a ride-share driver in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The incident reportedly occurred at 00:15 PST on Monday when Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle, assaulted the driver, and made criminal threats. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain injuries during the altercation.
The 59-year-old actor has a long-standing career, known for portraying special agent Jack Bauer in the iconic series '24' and serving as the US president in 'Designated Survivor'. Following his arrest, Sutherland was released after posting a bond of $50,000 (£37,000). He is expected to appear in court on February 2.
The confrontation took place at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, and the LAPD's Hollywood Division is currently investigating the situation further.
Sutherland's history with the law includes multiple arrests; notably, in 2007, he served 48 days in jail for driving under the influence. Additionally, he faced assault charges in 2009, though those were ultimately dropped. His most recent legal trouble came in 2020, when he was arrested for making an illegal U-turn.
