Irish police are engaging their Jordanian counterparts in the investigation following the fatal shooting of a New York‑born woman in Killarney.
The incident, which took place on Tuesday evening, resulted in the death of Jamey Carney, who had lived in County Kerry with her daughter.
Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan confirmed that Gardaí are working with Interpol and Europol, and have reached out to the police force in Jordan.
The suspect, identified as a person of interest, departed the country after the crime and is now believed to be residing in the Middle East.
With no extradition treaty in place between Ireland and Jordan, authorities will pursue alternate means to secure a judicial outcome.
O’Callaghan pledged that “the gardaí will seek to pursue you, no matter where you are” and highlighted the Consortium’s global security collaborations.
The investigation continues as Gardaí attempt to locate and apprehend the suspect.
