Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has described a Russian missile strike that killed five members of the same family as a ‘horrific crime’.
The Voronov family, who lived in Radushne near Kryvyi Rih, were struck by a ballistic missile that demolished their home. Parents Artem and Olena and three of their children – Mark, Azariah Ilay and Emilia – were killed in the blast.
The remaining children – Zakhar, Dominika, Viorika, Federica and a grandson named Artem – are still missing. Officials say the wreckage may still contain fragmented bodies, requiring forensic work to identify them.
During the same night, over 70 missiles and more than 280 drones were launched over Ukraine, with reports of casualties elsewhere: a Ukrainian officer died, fires broke out in three non‑residential buildings in Kyiv, and a gold‑poshta postal terminal in Poltava was hit.
Zelensky has urged the United States to grant Ukraine a license for Patriot interceptor missiles, citing the need for such systems to halt Russia’s ballistic attacks. The president’s appeal comes after a meeting with President Donald Trump, where he sought support for Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk visited a crater near Tarnawa‑Kolonia, Lublin, where a suspected Russian Kh‑101 missile reportedly struck. Polish forces indicated that the object was intercepted, but investigations continue.
The tragedy underscores the human toll of the ongoing conflict and the urgent demand for improved missile defence coverage across Ukraine.
