The pop icon’s legal team has filed a suit in Los Angeles alleging that two unidentified intruders stole and sold a catalogue of unreleased songs and backstage footage belonging to Grande. The court documents say the hackers targeted accounts of photographers and producers to gain access to digital assets which then appeared on the dark web for significant sums.

Laid out in the filing, the artist claims that 45 unreleased tracks was compromised in 2023 alone, and that her work has been leaked hundreds of times since her 2011 debut. Grande’s lawyers say the lawsuit seeks to uncover the hackers’ identities and punish those responsible for breaching the “sacred relationship” between the singer and her fans.

In a 2024 interview with the Zach Sang show, Grande spoke of a track titled Fantasize, written with Max Martin, that unexpectedly went viral after being posted online. She expressed frustration over the piracy, calling the attackers “criminals” and urged the public to treat the situation with the seriousness it deserves.

The suit outlines a pattern of sustained illegal activity that began in 2025, when a producer’s mobile phone was accessed, revealing unreleased masters, demos and studio footage. The previous year, a photographer’s email was spoofed to trick a technician into sending personal photos of Grande.

Grande’s case also claims that and that the breaches triggered a profound invasion of privacy and a disruption to her professional life, calling the damages to her reputation and earning potential substantial.

The lawsuit arrives as Grande is preparing for the release of her eighth studio album, Petal, slated for Friday. She is currently touring worldwide, with an extended UK stop scheduled for August. In a recent podcast interview with Amy Poehler, Grande hinted that the upcoming shows might be her last for an extended period.
