Jacob & Co has unveiled an extravagant new luxury watch valued at approximately $1.5 million, designed to honor India’s most affluent family, the Ambanis. This unique timepiece prominently features a figurine of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, embedded at the center of the watch.
The intricate design includes sculpted representations of a lion and a Bengal tiger surrounding Anant’s figurine, seated gracefully on a chair. Although the exact price tag has not been officially disclosed by the watchmaker, industry analysts estimate it at around $1.5 million (£1.1 million, 137 million rupees).
The watch pays tribute to Vantara, the Ambani family's private wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center, which spans 3,500 acres and is home to more than 2,000 species, including majestic lions, elephants, and tigers. This sanctuary, which is closed to the public, made headlines last year following allegations regarding the mistreatment of animals, but a Supreme Court investigation later found no wrongdoing.
Located in Gujarat, near Mukesh Ambani's massive oil refinery, Vantara was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March of the previous year and was also a venue for Anant Ambani’s grand pre-wedding events, which attracted international attention due to the star-studded guest list.
In their unveiling announcement, Jacob & Co emphasized that the watch, adorned with 397 precious stones—including diamonds and sapphires—represents a commitment to conservation and stewardship of wildlife. A representative from the brand's Indian retail partner indicated that the watch is not yet available for public purchase.
