Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office.
The alleged shooter, Natalie Rupnow, a 15-year-old student, reportedly opened fire on classmates and faculty before turning the weapon on herself. Investigators are currently working to determine the motive behind Rupnow's actions, with Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes stating that the motive appears to be based on a combination of factors.
The tragedy has deeply affected the school community. According to Barbara Wiers, the school’s communication director, "Our hearts are heavy with these losses."
