Small Plane Crash in San Diego Leads to Multiple Fatalities

Multiple reports indicate that a small Cessna 550 aircraft crashed in a San Diego neighbourhood on Thursday morning, leading to several deaths on board while local residents narrowly avoided serious injuries.

Several people are feared dead after a small plane accident in a residential area of San Diego early Thursday morning. The aircraft, identified as a Cessna 550 capable of carrying up to ten individuals, crashed into the Murphy Canyon neighbourhood, causing significant property damage including destroyed houses and ignited vehicles. Authorities have confirmed "more than one fatality" among the passengers and are currently working to identify victims.

Emergency services responded promptly to the incident, evacuating around 100 individuals from nearby homes. Assistant Fire Chief Dan Eddy noted that the crash left jet fuel scattered across the area and resulted in damage to multiple residences. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported among local residents, although one person was hospitalized, and two have since been treated and released.

Witness accounts describe a deafening bang followed by chaos and flames. Resident Christopher Moore recounted how he and his family were jolted awake by the noise, prompting them to evacuate quickly as smoke filled their home. Another local marine reported hearing an unusual sound before the crash, underlining the terrifying nature of the event.

Though the cause of the crash is still under investigation, it is believed that the aircraft was en route to Montgomery Field, approximately six miles from downtown San Diego. Authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of the community and to manage the aftermath of this tragic accident.
