Harmonious Calls: Hongkongers Compete in Unique Bird Call Contest

The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society hosted its first-ever bird call contest on Saturday, with the aim to promote conservation awareness.

Participants dressed up to mimic the rhythmic calls of local birds, including the Koel, Asian barred owlet, and the Chestnut-winged cockatoo. The event drew a lively crowd and showcased the creativity and passion of bird enthusiasts in Hong Kong.

The top prize went to Bob Chan, who captivated the audience with his impression of a Eurasian tree sparrow. This contest not only entertained but also highlighted the impressive diversity of avian life in Hong Kong, where over 580 different bird species have been documented.

Such initiatives aim to encourage more people to engage in birdwatching and conservation efforts, ensuring that future generations can also enjoy the vibrant wildlife of this bustling city.
