A second man has been charged in connection with a series of arson incidents involving properties and a vehicle associated with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The Metropolitan Police announced that Stanislav Carpiuc, a 26-year-old Romanian national, has been charged with conspiracy to commit arson with the intent to endanger life.

The charges stem from three separate incidents that occurred earlier this month. The first fire ignited in the early morning hours of May 12, 2025, outside a residence in Kentish Town, North London, previously inhabited by the Starmer family until their relocation to the official prime ministerial residence after Starmer's election win. The second fire occurred a day prior at another building in Islington, while the third involved a vehicle fire in Kentish Town on May 8.

According to BBC reports, Starmer had historical ties to the Islington property and had owned the targeted vehicle, which had since been sold to a neighbor. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from any of the incidents, although the doorway of the Kentish Town residence, now rented out, sustained damage.

The investigation has been handled by counterterrorism police due to the incidents' links to a high-profile political figure. Carpiuc is accused of collaborating with Roman Lavrynovych, a 21-year-old Ukrainian, who appeared in court last week facing similar charges. During the judicial proceedings, prosecution lawyer Sarah Przybylska noted the association of the car and properties with Prime Minister Starmer, describing the nature of the alleged offenses as "unexplained" at this stage.

Carpiuc was arrested by counterterrorism officers at London Luton Airport last Saturday and is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. This ongoing case highlights the growing concerns regarding threats to politicians and underscores the importance of security measures for those in public office.
