A shooting in Trappes, a western suburb of Paris, has killed one person and wounded at least four others, police said. The incident is being treated as a terrorist attack, with the suspect now in police custody.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu described the events as "very serious" and said the government was taking swift action. Mayor Ali Rabeh confirmed that shots were fired from a vehicle at pedestrians earlier that morning.
French authorities have taken over the investigation, with the National Anti‑Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office looking into whether the murder was connected to a broader terrorist enterprise. Some reports suggest the number of injuries may be higher, possibly including a 12‑year‑old child.
The incident has left the community in shock, with emergency services and police still on the scene at a petrol station in Trappes. Authorities are urging calm and continuing to gather evidence.
