A Canadian mining company says some of its workers who were abducted from a project site in Mexico last month have been found dead. Ten employees of the Vancouver-based Vizsla Silver Corp have been missing since 23 January, when they were taken from a mining site near Concordia, Mexico.

Vizsla Silver Corp said it had been informed by family members of some of the kidnapped workers that their relatives were found deceased. The mining firm is awaiting confirmation from the Mexican authorities and will provide further updates as appropriate.

We are devastated by this outcome and the tragic loss of life, Vizsla president and CEO Michael Konnert stated, offering condolences to the families of the deceased, and reinforcing the focus on the safe recovery of those who remain missing.

One family member reported identifying the body of his 43-year-old brother, José Manuel Castañeda Hernández, who worked as a geologist. Jaime Castañeda expressed the profound pain of the family's situation, remarking, In truth, this has been very painful to be here, in a place where we don't want to be, while criticizing the lack of justice surrounding the abduction.
