Authorities in New Mexico issued an arrest warrant Friday for Emmy Award-winning actor and director Timothy Busfield, who faces serious charges of child sexual abuse.

According to a criminal complaint filed by an investigator with the Albuquerque Police Department, a child has accused Busfield of inappropriate touching while he was directing and acting in 'The Cleaning Lady,' a television series.

The complaint indicates that the first incident occurred when the child was just 7 years old, with Busfield reportedly touching him multiple times. On another occasion, when the child was 8 years old, similar incidents allegedly happened again.

The allegations came to light when the child's mother reported the incidents to Child Protective Services, stating that the abuse occurred from November 2022 to early spring 2024.

The signed arrest warrant outlines two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor. Moreover, the child has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder due to the alleged abuse, experiencing nightmares and fear as a result.

The investigation into these claims started in November 2024, culminating from a doctor's referral at the University of New Mexico Hospital. The child’s family acted on the advice of their legal counsel.

'The Cleaning Lady,' which concluded its four-season run on Fox in 2025, featured Elodie Yung as a physician who relocates to the U.S. for treatment and subsequently becomes involved with organized crime after witnessing a mob killing.

Despite a probe launched by Warner Bros., the production company behind the show, the investigation reportedly could not substantiate the allegations against Busfield.

Timothy Busfield is recognized for his roles in acclaimed productions such as 'The West Wing,' 'Field of Dreams,' and 'Thirtysomething,' for which he earned an Emmy Award in 1991. He is also married to fellow actor Melissa Gilbert, who has not yet publicly commented on the allegations.
